Hello and welcome to Cascaras Chinese Cresteds.
We are a small, select kennel located approximately an hour out of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia - in the now somewhat infamous town of Kinglake.
A mother and daughter collaboration - Cascaras has been a long time in the making. We needed to wait for the right time, the right place , the right country and of course the right dogs to embark on this fascinating journey.
Our dogs herald from some of the best Crested lines in Australia, Mohawk, Hibay and Auskrest and our heartfelt thanks goes to Vicki Bridle, Josephine Ryan and Cristine Henderson for entrusting us with Darla and Oz, our foundation dogs and enabling our start into the wonderful world of Cresteds!
Mohawk, Hibay and Auskrest kennels are committed to DNA health testing their dogs for PRA-PRCD and started testing their veteran dogs to clear their kennels of this hereditary disease as far back as possible. As a result of their in-depth testing, our dogs at Cascaras have no linkage to this disease and are clear by parentage. This also means all puppies produced by us in the future will also be clear of PRA-PRCD and DNA Parentage certification will be provided to attest to this.
Our dogs are members of the family first and show dogs second. They live in the house with us and are well socialised with other animals, people and children. A Crested craves the companionship of it's people and a kennel is not the environment for them.
We predominantly show our dogs and only breed occasionally to add to our own canine family, however puppies may sometimes be available. Our aim is to produce happy, healthy, sound dogs as true to the Crested standard as possible - suitable not only for the show ring but also as the perfect family companion.
